How to buy or sell through the Internet? How to prevent fraud?

We do not guarantee you the content of advertisements and therefore we recommend a couple of tips in order for you to be sufficiently careful when buying or selling through the Internet. The following recommendations are of informational nature only and provide absolutely no guarantee.

  • When buying or selling goods through the Internet, the most suitable and safest way to complete a purchase/sale is a personal meeting between the buyer and seller.
  • Never pay for any goods in advance.
  • If you cannot take the goods over in person, do not use a bank transfer when paying for goods; instead use the cash on delivery (COD) method.
  • Our portal does not provide any payment systems to ensure safe on-line payment directly on the portal pages or through eventual e-mail messages. Therefore, do not react to eventual e-mails asking you to pay for the goods, even if the payment is requested from you through an e-mail allegedly sent from our portal.
  • Do not provide anybody with your personal data through the Internet or e-mail (such as date of birth, birth number, ID number or your bank information (e.g. your credit card number)). If you have to input your personal or access data (for instance, on a log in page, etc.), carefully check the URL address of that page to make sure that it is not a false or deceptive page.
  • Do not give your access passwords to anybody, even when you are requested to do so by an e-mail allegedly sent from our portal.
  • If you are buying goods from persons in another country, be extraordinarily careful and in no case send any payment in advance.
  • You should buy/sell animals and plants only via a personal meeting. The buyer should thoroughly check the health condition of the animal/plant and should learn as much as possible from the owner about the habits and needs of the animal. Immediately after the purchase of the animal (e.g. a dog) the new owner should visit a veterinarian for the purpose of a preventive examination. The seller should make sure that his animal will be in good hands and will live in suitable conditions. The seller should inform the buyer of the animal’s habits and requirements.
  • Advertisements offering big money for some kind of help are often fraudulent.

The most frequent Internet frauds!

  • Deceptive e-mails: The user will get a deceptive e-mail that seems to come from an Internet portal or bank. The user is requested, under some pretext, to click on a link in the e-mail and this will open a website that looks similar to the homepage of a given portal or bank. On this deceptive page the user is to input personal or log in data that could subsequently be misused. Some such deceptive e-mails do not contain a link to a URL page and request from you to send your personal data directly back through an e-mail. The most frequent types of deceptive e-mails are: “A false on-line payment”, “A false plea for help”, “Warning against made-up viruses”, “Warning against fraud”, “A call to verify or supplement various customer data”, “False information on a win”, etc.
  • A false on-line payment: The user will get a deceptive e-mail, which content is written on behalf of an Internet portal or, for instance, on behalf of a bank. This deceptive e-mail offers the user a certain method of an on-line payment or tells the user that it will provide secure on-line payment. The goal of such e-mails is often to cheat the user and to obtain personal data or to get a payment directly through a false page stated in the e-mail. The false bank page is, at a glance, the same as the homepage of the bank.
  • A false plea for help: The user will get a deceptive e-mail, which content says that if in exchange for help, for instance, with a transfer of money from abroad, a percentage of the sum transferred will be provided to the user. Usually they request your personal data or a payment that allegedly is necessary for a successful transfer of the money from abroad. But when you pay, you will probably never hear from them again.
  • Deceptive pages: On the Internet there are pages or Internet shops that offer products, but when you pay for them they will never send you the products. Therefore, it is better to order products using the cash on delivery payment method (do not pay for the goods in advance) or make use of proven Internet shops.
  • Pyramid games: Be careful of various pyramid games and chain e-mails that promise quick and high earnings.
If you find any illegal, disreputable or suspicious advertisements, please, inform us through a link you will find on the details page for each advertisement. If you get a suspicious e-mail from the portal user or directly on behalf of the portal, which will request an on-line payment, you can send us an e-mail message.
